I find it a bit irritating when people who review films get obsessed about exposing all the pro- or anti-Christian or religious symbolism in popular movies.
I really enjoyed Avatar, it was a great movie. It has an exciting story with some thrilling moments, amazing visual effects, at times beautiful imagery and an overall weird-yet-intriguing-yet-enjoyable feel to it.

All the more reason to get baked before watching movies such as this. I haven't seen it ... way too pricey ... movies in general but 3D? Forget about it!
BUT ... I saw some bits online and it looks damn pretty. I heard tale of floating, glowy spheres which popped out of the screen ever so slightly. Sounds like good stuff to me. I couldn't care less about the story in an action packed film filled with candy for my eyes.
I hope to see it someday... if I can scrounge up the change.

I think that the religious undertones in this movie are bogus. The only similarity between the movie and any religion is that it is fiction. The avatars' color being blue could mean anything such as the director's favorite color or a reference to a Hindu god or because it looked best with the background colors. Pointing things out like this makes it seem like there is an agenda behind it which I am very doubtful of. You can find minor details or even major details in any movie and compare them to anything and make it seem legitimate.
Significance is always the topic. People see what they want to see.

i totally agree with this post, i mean a film is there for visual enjoyment, who cares about wether the director/script writer has made a religious reference. in all fairness you cant say anything without it being related back to some point within religion because of the diversity of all the different religions. its stupid.
